One Day Still Life Intensive Workshops in Westchester, with instructor Karen O’Neil
One Friday a month, starting January 20th
This is a series of six one-day workshops, each focusing on a specific still life issue.
The workshops meet from 9am-4pm. Each workshop begins with a brief demo, followed
by participants working from provided still life materials. Students are welcome to bring any
color medium; instructor will demo with oil paint. $125 per workshop, discount of 10% when
signed up for 4 workshops.

January 20th - Setting up a still life - viewpoint, perspective, lighting techniques.
Composition, scale, placement, balance, weight.
February 17th - Value, contrasts - Translating color into value, value into color. Finding
planes of color/value in form.
March 16th - Interpreting gray and neutral color - Mixing neutrals and gray.
April 20th - White; interpreting color in white - Subtle variations, transition planes.
May 18th - Color Vibration- Weight, effect of atmosphere on color. Simplifying glass objects.
June 15th - Working on individual's color perception and personal vision- Review of all issues.
